Shakira is BACK and she’s pushing the boundaries of pop with this fun new banger.

Well, the chance to write about new Shakira music is a bit exciting! It’s been five years since her last new material in English, and seven years since we got a whole English album from her – so this is quite the moment. And though she could have easily given us a standard latin pop banger and it’d have sent us all into a frenzy anyway, she’s not playing it safe with this one at all: ‘Don’t Wait Up’ is a really interesting track. It’s got these rich organ sounds throughout, alongside an energetic house beat, which feels like a setting that truly highlights the uniqueness of her vocals. It feels like a proper comeback – a reinvention in terms of production, but maintaining all the vibes that made us all fall in love with her in the first place.
