Yet again Banks proves her artistic genius with another innovative track which stands out from the crowd.

‘The Devil’ is a track which really reflects the vibe of its lyrics. Opening with an intense layered whisper, and then adding a crawling synth bass part and very minimal percussive emphasis, the overall effect is one of spine-tingling discomfort, but intentionally so. By the time Banks breaks into her full vocal, it’s slinky and cool, and slots perfectly into the world the production has created. She has often created songs which simply don’t sound like anyone else could have made them, and this is certainly true of ‘The Devil’ too. An intriguing and cinematic listen.
