19 APRIL 2021: EDITH – Over It

This shimmery synth-bop from London-based rising star Edith is a playful lesson in moving past a failed relationship.

Edith is building the anticipation for her upcoming album with its first single, the brilliant ‘Over It’. The lyrics are sassy and self-assured – ‘I’m over it / that was so quick / when you’re missing me / just think what you did’ is a wonderfully withering putdown of a partner who’s let her down, and might be one of my favourite lyrics of the year so far. The production of this one is full of glittery synths and big 80s drums, bringing an infectious sense of joy to balance out the message of the lyrics. It’s this blend of wit and fun which makes this the perfect breakup anthem, it just gets everything right, and makes me extremely hyped to hear what Edith does next.
