It’s often overlooked just how emotional electronic music can be, and this trance classic from the early noughties is a more poignant listen than most.

Plummet’s ‘Damaged’ is a trance reworking of a 1999 song by Plumb, whose lyrics deal with a girl trying to come to terms with being molested as a child. Such a serious and delicate subject may not instantly sound like a good basis for a dance remix, but what Plummet did with the track in their 2003 release was sensitive, uplifting and true to the original material. The sea of synths which characterise this production really highlight the melodies of the track, and the eerie echo underlines the emotion behind the lyrics.
