08 JANUARY 2021: B*WITCHED – Jesse Hold On

Look, I’m not going to call B*Witched Ireland’s greatest ever musical export, but there’s a certain point after many many beverages that I think we’d all agree they are.

‘C’est La Vie’ may be the one which has gone down in history as their signature song – ‘some people say I look like me dad‘ intro and all – but today I want to highlight the equally brilliant ‘Jesse Hold On’. I rediscovered this one completely accidentally in a recent episode of The Hit List, and it’s just utterly joyful. The distinct millennium teen-pop sound mixed with the wonderfully corny Irish instrumental nods is so much fun, and it can’t be denied that the melody here is ridiculously catchy. AND THE KEY CHANGE, honestly… it’s the sound of an era. This was everywhere when I was five, so no wonder it’s triggering such rose-tinted memories for me, right?
