07 AUGUST 2020: LENE MARLIN – Sitting Down Here

This breezy pop track was EVERYWHERE when I was growing up, and it’s still sounding pretty fresh twenty years on.

Norwegian singer/songwriter scored a worldwide hit with the charmingly catchy ‘Sitting Down Here’ back in late 1999 and early 2000. It’s one of those songs I heard again for the first time in ages the other day, and it’s just an instantly feel-good listen. The whole sound palette of this track is rich and laidback, with warm guitar strums and glowing harmonies complimenting Lene’s lead vocal throughout. I remember as a child having absolutely no idea what she was singing because, well, there’s a hell of a lot of syllables in each line, but the story behind those lyrics is much clearer now.
