22 JUNE 2020: SORAYA – Eclipse
This wonderfully laid-back pop track is a testament to how creative and trend-savvy an artist Soraya is.
Soraya has ALWAYS been an artist who moves with the times and reinvents her own sound by interpreting new influences – from the rocky undertones of 2010’s ‘Dreamer’ to the swirling synthpop of ‘Universe In Me’ from 2013, she’s put her own spin on a number of genres. Her latest album ‘Luces Y Sombras’ seems to take inspiration from the sound of artists like Rosalía, who have refused to be confined to local markets and brought Spanish-language pop to wider audiences. ‘Eclipse’, the opening track of Soraya’s new collection, is a real standout. It’s a subtle number, with authentic guitar twangs and rhythmic lyrics driving forward a very contemporary sound. The production here is exquisite, with lots of space for the relaxed lead vocals and those haunting echoes to take centre stage and show off the true beauty of the melodies. The use of an international cognate in the title ‘Eclipse’ is the final inspired piece of the jigsaw which makes this one a track with real worldwide potential.
