08 MARCH 2020: DOTTER – Bulletproof

After one of the closest results in the competition’s history, Melodifestivalen’s silver medal went to this fantastic track from Dotter.

I personally love The Mamas and ‘Move’, as well as MANY of the other competing entries last night, but that being said, I am genuinely surprised that Dotter didn’t win. The lasers, the emotive looks to camera, the pitch perfect vocals… it had the makings of a winner, and it made my boyfriend put his phone down to pay attention, and he’s not what you’d call a national final fan. ‘Bulletproof’ is something really special. If we look at her overall Melodifestivalen narrative arc, this is one hell of a redemption from 2018’s ‘Cry’. And, more to the point, it’s a fantastic song, a groundbreaking performance, and an artistic masterpiece that will bring Dotter a hell of a lot more listeners than she’d have without the Melodifestivalen platform.
