02 AUGUST 2019: EAGLE-EYE CHERRY – Save Tonight

Not my usual genre by any stretch of the imagination, but there’s just something about this I’ve always loved.

At the turn of the millennium, songs like this were on the radio all the time, and I remember hearing it a lot as a child but having no idea what it was until many years later. The driving chords and drum pattern really emphasise the urgency of the lyrics, and it’s hard not to get lost in it. There is a dreamy electronic cover version from 2016 that I adore too… but that’s beside the point. The original is still pretty epic.
